Hello, I’m Amy.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
I’m Scottish, but I’ve been in London for seven years now, long enough to have opinions about the tube, strong feelings about a good flat white, and a slightly alarming ability to justify “just popping in to a shop” and leaving with a bag.
By day, I’m a marketing director working in the city. I love the strategy side of it (the thinking, the momentum, the problem-solving) but I’m a wannabe creative. At university I did creative writing as part of my course, and I loved it: short stories, essays, little observational pieces. Writing was the thing I did for joy. I wasn’t particularly good at it, but I liked exploring people’s stories, analysing my own comings and goings with a more creative lense, and so writing became something I did when when I wanted to explore a topc, or find humour in the mundane.
Somewhere along the way, I got busy…well, you know how it goes.
But recently, something shifted.
I’ve just secured a new job at a fashion marketplace, and it’s properly lit a spark in me again. Fashion, marketing, writing, and tech are the four things I can talk about for far too long and right now I’m right in the middle of all of them – sort of like my superfecta era.
And then there’s life outside work: I got married in June, and we’re about to take the trip of a lifetime to St Maarten over New Year’s Eve. Everything feels… super shiny at the moment, like a season of momentum. The kind you want to bottle, or at least write down before it slips into the blur of “can you believe that was this year?”
So I’m starting this blog because I want to capture it…the positivity, the excitement, the ambition, the little moments that would otherwise disappear. I want a place for the learnings and the lovely bits, the ramblings and the musings. A place that feels like a personal column: the story isn’t always the event, it’s the way you see it.
Welcome to The Best Edit.
Here’s what you can expect
- The Sunday Best: a weekly post with lists of what I’m loving (and what I’m eyeing, saving, bookmarking, re-wearing, re-ordering)
- Outfits & styling notes: what I’m wearing, what I’m repeating, what’s worth it, and why certain pieces just work
- London bits: date nights, places worth the hype, little discoveries, and the parts of the city that make you feel like you’re in a film
- Travel diaries: plans, itineraries, reviews, and the kind of memories you want to re-read six months later
- Work & leadership: honest reflections on marketing, building, leading, and doing things properly (no “quick fixes”, ever)
- A healthier life: training, routines, cooking, and the behind-the-scenes that makes everything else run smoothly
This is the start. I don’t want it to be overly curated, I want it to be kept, like a shelf of moments I can come back to. Proof of a season. A record of who I was, what I was building, and what I couldn’t stop thinking about.
Thanks for being here at the beginning.
— Amy
